Four youths wearing hoodies and armed with “edged weapons” are on the run after breaking into an Alice Springs home overnight, threatening a male resident and stealing his car keys and wallet, before fleeing in a red 2017 Holden Commodore, NT Police said.

Police said they received reports of an unlawful entry through the rear entry at the Gillen home around 2:25am.

After the youths threatened the 68-year-old male resident, they took his car and fled the scene.

The victim was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was later spotted south of The Gap, where police deployed tyre deflation devices, but only deflated one tire. The vehicle continued on and all offenders are still on the run.
