Two women armed with weapons, in a group of four, have been arrested for allegedly stealing a car on Casuarina Drive early Sunday morning, then attempted to steal another car from a unit complex in Nightcliff, NT Police said.
The first vehicle was reported stolen to police, who then “tracked the vehicle” to a Nightcliff location where police observed four women “attempting to steal a second vehicle from a unit complex”, police said.
“The offenders fled on foot and a short chase occurred before two women, aged 20 and 27, were apprehended and found to be in possession of stolen property,” a police statement said.
Both women were charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawfully possessing property and possessing/carrying a controlled weapon.
Police did not say what weapons the women were carrying.
