UPDATED: Four male youths who escaped from a “supported accommodation” facility in Alice Springs on Wednesday night around 10pm, have been apprehended, the NT Police said on Friday afternoon.
Police initially said on Thursday that the four teens, aged 14, 15, 15, and 16, allegedly climbed the fence at the unnamed facility and “absconded from the area”, but were still believed to be in the Alice Springs area.
A statement said police were notified of the escape immediately and attended the scene.
The public statement about the escape was issued at 2:43pm on Thursday. Police did not describe the facility the youths broke out of, nor why they were there.
“Strike Force Viper have carriage of the investigation and are utilising extensive resources to locate the outstanding youths,” police media director Mark Wilton said.
“Police urge anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to contact police on 131 444, quoting reference number NTP2500005819, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
On Friday, police said the 14 and 16-year-old were apprehended at “an address in Connellan”.
The two 15-year-olds were apprehended around 7am Friday morning “without incident at an address in East Side”.
Police said all four have been charged for escaping and were expected to appear in court on Friday.
“The Northern Territory Police Force would like to thank members of the public for their assistance,” a statement said.
