A 51-year-old Darwin woman is facing charges for allegedly defrauding a non-profit organisation that supports NDIS clients, NT Police said.

A complaint against the woman was filed with police on September 30, 2025, sparking a Serious Crime Squad investigation into the matter that lasted for seven months.

It was alleged she used the company credit card after leaving the employ of the company.

Police said on Friday that the 51-year-old woman was charged with 27 counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

The woman was served with a notice to appear on Wednesday and will front Darwin Local Court on June 4 to answer to the charges.

The company that previously employed the woman was not disclosed by police.

“NT Police have also referred the matter to the Australian Federal Police and the NDIS Fraud Fusion Task Force as part of a coordinated approach addressing NDIS fraud,” police media director Mark Wilton said.
