The 2.5km stretch of the Adelaide to Darwin railway track that was damaged due to flood waters has been repaired ahead of schedule, enabling the resumption of backlogged freight services through Tennant Creek to Darwin, the government has said.
The rail line re-opened on Monday “under restrictions” with the backlog of freight from Alice Springs being cleared with “further stocks and supplies in Adelaide to be freighted during the week”.
