A five-year-old was struck by a car in Farrar Sunday evening and was left “bleeding from their face and nose”, paramedics said, in what they described as “every parent’s worst nightmare”.

St John Ambulance NT operations manager Craig Garraway told ABC Radio the five-year-old was hit by the car while in the road at around 5pm on Sunday.

“They were bleeding from their face and nose,” Mr Garraway said.

“It was terrifying for everyone involved, including the person driving, and obviously bystanders and families.”

Mr Garraway said the child was treated at the scene by paramedics and later taken to hospital in a stable condition.

It was unclear if any charges were pending.
