Five boys aged 13 to 16 have been arrested after allegedly stealing a car, leading to a police pursuit and the use of tyre spikes to stop it, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said a car was allegedly stolen during a burglary at a home in the Alice Springs suburb of Kilgariff overnight.
He said about 7:30am police responded to the break-in after the victim was able to track the car’s location via GPS.
“A resolution strategy was implemented, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the stolen motor vehicle on Colonel Rose Drive,” Mr Wilton said.
“A police pursuit was initiated, and the vehicle came to a stop in scrubland in Arumbera.”
Mr Wilton said the five boys, a 13-year-old, two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were arrested and remain in police custody.
