Motorsport Australia will issue a permit for the car section of the 47th Tatts Finke Desert Race, along with new safety measures to address a spectator death at the event in 2021, in time for the race scheduled over the King’s Birthday long weekend from June 9 to 12.
MSA’s permit comes with a host of safety measures that include spectators keeping a 30-metre minimum distance from the track; with landing zones over crests and rises to have “significant” spectator distancing; monitored public viewing points along the track; and spectator exclusion zones and off-limit zones at high-risk corners throughout the track.
