We have all efforts thrown at preventing any progress on this project. Meanwhile we have lithium and a whole host of minerals being mined and not a blue bee to be seen anywhere. Core Lithium has stalled due to fallen lithium prices. If the NT continues on its current economic trajectory the whole statehood idea will be a wasted exercise and we will return to being a place that only exists as a training ground for public servants and a defence outpost.
Leave Tamboran be
Environmental groups are generally hasty in initiating processes that thwart economic development. That is the case in this instance, for Tamboran has bent over backwards to ensure compliance with all rigid expectations. It seems that these groups exist only to create confusion and discord
It makes me very sad that environmental protection groups are being characterised as bad actors, when their motives are altruistic. Compare that with the profit-driven companies who rely on cosy, secretive relationships with Ministers and political donations to win government support. Environmental groups are very transparent with their motivations, governance and methods, and in this instance they are asking the court to consider whether the law is being followed. There are environmental risks in fracking, and we need environmental laws that will provide for objective risk assessments, not assessments by the proponent.
“Environmental groups are altruistic”
Funniest thing I’ve read in a while.
