The NT Electoral Commission has admitted it bungled its electoral boundary redistribution process, claiming an “administrative oversight” will result in starting the process all over again at an unknown cost to taxpayers.

The final report into the electoral boundary redistribution – which essentially aimed to alter the boundaries of certain electorates to be more evenly distributed by population – was to be finalised this month but will now be delayed as the process starts again “for the redistribution to be lawful”, the NTEC said, after it failed to follow proper process.
