EXCLUSIVE: Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Pat Williams identified a “perceived conflict of interest” that has led him to now refer the Administrator assault case against Federal Labor MP Luke Gosling to an outside jurisdiction for oversight, while questions remain over the NT Police appearing to be currently running both the investigation and prosecution against the Federal Member of Parliament with no independent direction.
Mr Gosling was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of assault on the administrator, which is a charge more serious than common assault and carries a maximum 14-year prison sentence. He appeared in Darwin Local Court on Friday to have his bail conditions varied at a hearing that involved a prosecutor named Jessica Readman.
