The Lawler Government has signed a deal to host the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme’s Motocross World Championship at Hidden Valley from next year, with taxpayers to foot the $1.6 million bill to build a new track, while the total cost to Territorians to host the event was not disclosed.
The five-year agreement is between the MXGP rights holder Infront Moto Racing and the government, with the event to be run by the Northern Territory Major Events Company and to also include the FIM women’s Motocross World Championship, as well as MX2 classes.
