Darwin man arrested over alleged rape of his partner, deprivation of liberty

A Darwin man has been charged by the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Unit for the alleged rape of his partner, and a threat to distribute sexually explicit images of her, among other charges, NT Police have said.

Police Domestic and Family Violence Section officer in charge Sergeant Michael Budge said police allege the 31-year-old man physically and sexually assaulted his female partner on a number of occasions beginning in December 2021.

And that he also allegedly threatened to distribute sexually explicit images of her.

Sgt Budge said the man was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of depriving a person of personal liberty, one count of threatening to distribute intimate images, one count of damaging property, and three breaches of a domestic violence order.

He said the man was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Friday.
