The Darwin Waterfront’s Aqua Park will become Australia’s largest, after a scheduled makeover of new attractions added that will quadruple its size in time for the school holidays starting June 25.
The new attractions to the park include ‘The Rock’, consisting of three integrated slides and five jumping platforms of various heights; ‘The Swing’, the world’s first and only modular inflatable swing on the water; and ‘The Tramp’, which is designed for bouncing, providing for an ideal jumping contest.
The Aqua Park at the Waterfront will be Australia’s biggest Wibit Sports Park after its makeover, with the facilities able to accommodate up to 250 guests. A new Wibit Kids Circuit park will also be opened to guests a week after the main park. The separate Wibit Kids Circuit park provides safe fun for kids aged four to nine.
The new attractions will not interfere with Recreation Lagoon swimmers doing laps around the buoys, the corporation said.
“Providing signature drawcards for all ages is our focus at the Darwin Waterfront Corporation, and we are very pleased to partner with Aqua Park to deliver Australia’s biggest-ever Wibit Sports Park for locals and visitors,” said Waterfront general manager Sam Burke.
Aqua Park Directors Colin Kane and Louise Magee said that they have no doubt the new park will appeal to guests of all ages as there is something for everyone in the theme park.
“We are delighted to be able to work with Darwin Waterfront Corporation to bring this project to fruition and add a new attraction to the precinct,” they said.
This weekend will be the last chance to enjoy the current Aqua Park before it is renovated to make way for the new installation.
Tickets and pricing for the new park offering will be released soon and can be purchased at waterfront.nt.gov.au with special discounts available for Darwin Waterfront members.
