Jetstar has announced it has cancelled flights between Darwin and Bali for about three weeks in October because of runway upgrades at Darwin Airport, with the federal Defence Department’s works schedule announced and the main runway to be closed for 9.5 hours a day for close to two months.
Department general capital facilities and infrastructure director Air Commodore Ron Tilley said in a Sunday statement, the work on Darwin Airport’s main runway will begin on Tuesday, and continue until November 30, before stopping over the Wet, and starting again on April 2 and running until late 2024.
