A vote on a motion proposing Darwin Council publicly support the Yes vote in the upcoming referendum on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament has been delayed until after the referendum, rendering it redundant, after a councillor had the debate adjourned Tuesday night.
The motion, put by Chan Ward councillor Morgan Rickard, was to be debated at council’s Tuesday general meeting, which proposed Darwin Council publicly support the Yes campaign for a First Nations representative body to be enshrined in the Constitution and allow for an Indigenous body to advise Parliament and the Federal Government.

This is not something that our Council should be getting involved in.
They’re just trying to help out Federal Labor.
The Voice is not going to pass, Australians have seen that Labor are attempting to divide us along racial lines and it isn’t going to fly.
This would be a complete waste of money and time by our Council.
They should focus on their core functions instead.
