Self-described “international trade and development consultant” Peter Styles will lead a nine-day, ratepayer-funded international trade delegation to China and Vietnam later this year in his role as Darwin Lord Mayor, which he says will strengthen international partnerships, promote Darwin as a globally-connected tropical capital, and create opportunities for strategic collaboration across Asia, but council will not say how much the trip is expected to cost.

Questions have also remained unanswered over Mr Styles’ personal business interests and how any potential conflicts of interest associated with the trip will be managed.

    (3) The expenses or benefits under this section must:

    (a) be provided for in the council’s budget; and

    (b) be identified in monthly and annual financial reports of the council.

  5. Congratulations to the voters of Darwin who voted in a washed up CLP stooge!

  6. This sounds like a trip that Anika Wells would enjoy. Send an invite.

  7. Survival . . . demands relocation. It always has. Seriously, why continue to reside within this Mayor’s orbit?
