The NT Police property crimes unit dealt with a record number of offenders during the last financial year, with Strike Force Trident taking action against 1,452 offenders in relation to 4,466 offences across the Greater Darwin region, which was up from 1,362 offenders in 2024-25.

An NT assistant police commissioner has been demoted after a mysterious “disciplinary investigation” into unknown matters, which follows unresolved turmoil and severe integrity issues in the executive ranks identified in a report into the organisation’s senior police recruitment processes, and comes ahead of Police Commissioner Martin Dole’s expected announcement of a permanent deputy commissioner in the coming days.
