Connolly breaks silence on social media comments as Opposition calls for review of appointment

The NT Opposition has called for the appointment of David Connolly as the next Administrator to be “put on hold and reviewed”, writing to the Governor-General over the weekend to seek “further advice” following revelations of his offensive social media comments, while Mr Connolly issued a statement on Monday claiming that he did not mean to “cause offence”, but stopped short of apologising to Indigenous Territorians for his repeated online ridicule.

Further questions have also been raised about whether Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro was telling the truth on Friday morning when she claimed she had not seen any racially divisive social media posts by Mr Connolly, which an integrity expert said would mean the government is “incompetent” if it was not aware of the posts before appointing him.

  1. I’ll never be administrator, I am told I belted a kid in kindergarten in about 1946 so that excludes me,

  2. Meanwhile former Administrator NTG CHO Hugh Heggie, 2016-21 ALP CM Michael Gunner & Health Minister Natasha Fyles have not been held accountable for mandating a COVID Bioweapon, shutting down small business & locking people up like criminals? A few hurty words is not even comparable to the COVID destruction.. ALP hypocrisy again.

    • I made those comments before I knew I was to become Administrator. Now I’m a changed man! Amazing what such a Gig can do to change your approach in life. I’m now really happy too, to be recognized as an outstanding Territorian, by the current NT government. We are after all, on the same page, as pointed out by the Chief Minister.

  3. Only in the Territory!
