Nobody should be surprised given the history of the NT: -$10 million given to a failed bottled water company from Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility ! -Seafarm’s Project Sea Dragon demise -Amphibious Aerospace Industries $2 million loan with no aeroplane in sight! -Paspaleys Shiplift project with no lifted ship in sight! -The NT’s Independent Commissioner Promoting Corruption(NT ICAC) with ZERO runs on the board! -NT Health’s ACACIA Project which effects every one who steps foot in Royal Darwin Hospital, managed by people with no relevant qualifications! -NT Police SERPRO Project which effects every one affected by crime is perpetually behind schedule with the managers not to bothered. -NT ASX project by Fujitsu/SAP which hit $70 million with no end in site and was cancelled! -3 Solar Farms sitting IDLY by, unconnected to the network! -The super expensive Power Underground project thankfully has been killed off after several years! – The Moratorium on Fracking and the subsequent rush for GAS by a inexperienced short sighted Labor Government -The cancellation of 800 Defense homes in Lee Point and the subsequent relocation of a Adelaide Regiment to Darwin and Townsville…how the rents? -Core Lithium BP33 mine cancellation -Crowley Solutions US Fuel Tanks drama
Empire building at the expense of all Territorians. Why not use the existing, valuable and professionally competent relationship which already exists with Flinders? Interesting that Bowman worked under Barney Glover at the University of Western Sydney before ‘winning’ the VC job at CDU and then having Barney give him the curriculum for the proposed new medical school at CDU. Barney now has a job analysing the labour force apparently and University of Western Sydney is not mentioned any more as a partner in this new ‘’venture’! Where is the highly qualified staff coming from? Where are the hospital training places? This is a mad cap, very expensive and unnecessary project. As the other scott says – a typical badly thought out, Territory disaster – just waiting to happen. Partnerships with more professional, better qualified and far more efficient and highly ranked universities such as Flinders, is the best way to protect the Territory taxpayer and provide quality health professionals to serve the Territory community.
With self government we thought the new cowboys running the place were a bit rough around the edges but at least they had a go and did a reasonable job at the time. The last few years have only been in a downward direction on a super slide from which it will take years to recover, if ever.
My unanswered complaints about CDU are legion, as are its incompetencies. I am still haunted by the vison of hundreds of Mataranka cattle and horses that died in agony from thirst and starvation caused by CDU negligence; and I still rankle at the subsequent coverup, achieved by applying endless postponements and delays followed by the cynical application of Statute of Limitations. Then there are the dozens of valueless PhDs that are used to divert attention from 60% Aboriginal child illiteracy and innumeracy. Or the anthropology degrees, condemned in 1992 by a horrified Austrian investigative team. And to crown this litany of failures, an alliance with the Menzies School of Health Research which has presided over contrived Aboriginal ill-health and premature death that has increased steadily over half a century. It is time a review and audit was established by the NT community instead of endemically corrupt academics and social scientists whose only function is to wave a whitewash brush
