The Australian Education Union has called on the Albanese Government to double its funding to NT public schools with the NT Government unable to say when it would meet previously agreed minimum school spending targets, with a current $227 million annual shortfall, in what the union called the shocking inequity of school resourcing in the Territory.
Back in 2017, the then-Turnbull Coalition Government announced education reforms with funding targets guided by a School Resourcing Standard (SRS) concept, a needs-based model designed to provide a minimum spend per school and per student.
