The former chief executive officer of the Barkly Regional Council deliberately tried to sabotage an investigation the NT Government ordered the council to undertake on itself, a new report has found, while the entire council has now been officially dismissed.

The Local Government Unit ordered the independent investigation after the Local Government Minister suspended the council on the basis of serious allegations being levelled against the CEO and mayor for years.
