ARM Architecture has been fined $900,000 by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and its former managing director Tony Allen fined $75,000, for trying to rig a tender for a $250 million construction project at Charles Darwin University by asking competing firms not to bid.
ARM Architecture, also known as Ashton Raggatt McDougall Pty Ltd with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, acknowledged it attempted to employ “cartel conduct” when Mr Allen sent two emails to eight other architecture firms in September 2020, attempting to induce an arrangement or understanding that they refrain from bidding for the second stage of the project.
