The Chief Minister is justified in condemning failed projects funded by the profligate Labor Government “led” by its inept titular head, Michael Gunner, at huge cost to Territory taxpayers. The rocket launches and amphibious aircraft are two of many financial fiascos that contributed to the Territory’s unsustainable fiscal position when Gunner and Manison ran the circus. The huge financial loses are not confined to equity. Other imposts include substantial costs incurred on consultants, overseas travel, project management and advertising. The political consequence is that NT Labor Is unelectable for the foreseeable future. In the public interest and the community’s right to know, it would be open to the Chief Minister to release itemised costs for both projects, the business case and risk assessment. No one is ever held accountable for these stuff ups. That’s why they keep happening.
