The Mayor of Alice Springs was threatened with an axe outside his next door neighbour’s home on Christmas Eve, sources have told the NT Independent, in an incident which comes amid a fraught situation for the troubled town, where crime has become the focus of national media attention and federal intervention.
The Action for Alice Facebook page run by local businessman Darren Clark reported that the incident happened on December 24, when a “local politician” was set to take his family on a Christmas lights viewing drive. The page did not name the politician.
It will be interesting to see if it is handled as more serious than a near fatal cream pie.
