UPDATED: One woman is dead after being stabbed outside the Doubletree Hilton Darwin Esplanade hotel on Friday night, while two people were also stabbed in the underground car park at Casuarina Square, NT Police said.
NT Police acting media manager Elle Arnold said in a statement police and paramedics were called to the scene of the fatal stabbing on the Esplande in Darwin City just before 6pm, after receiving information that an injured woman had entered the hotel seeking help.
She said the woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died a short time later. A man was arrested at the scene and was in custody.
A crime scene has been declared, and a section of the Esplanade remains closed while police investigate on Friday night, Ms Arnold said.
The woman’s death follows the death of Airport Tavern BWS employee Declan Laverty, 20, who was stabbed while at while at work on the night of March 19.
His death promoted an anti-crime rally in Darwin, where an estimated 3,000 people protested outside Parliament House. Another rally is planned for tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm.
Police are also investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Rapid Creek shopping centre front car park in Trower Rd in Milner, after a fight between about four people in early March.

Ms Arnold said Crime Division Detectives were investigating the Casuarina Shopping Centre stabbings, which happened at an undisclosed time Friday night.

She said a 22-year-old woman was in custody after being arrested for allegedly stabbing two people following an argument in the underground carpark.

“Paramedics treated a 41-year-old man at the scene for injuries to his leg, and the 29-year-old woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries to her back.” she said.

Ms Arnold said police had also arrested a man after he allegedly slashed the tyres of a police vehicle.

“The man was consuming alcohol in a public place when police approached him, and the alcohol was subsequently destroyed,” she said.

“Members continued their patrols when the man came to the police vehicle and slashed both rear tyres rendering the vehicle unusable.”

Police are asking witnesses to the Darwin city stabbing to call police on 131 444.
