A website the Fyles Government built to advertise jobs in the Northern Territory is offering people the chance to relocate to Western Australia for work and has also bizarrely advertised a job with the Sydney Swans in partnership with a Wollongong high school to monitor “fan engagement” in Katherine South.

The jobs site also offers a job based in Katherine South as the principal of Rosny College in Tasmania, as well as offering an oil and gas industry safety health and sustainability officer position for Red Rooster.

The “Work in the Northern Territory” site – which may also be called “Territory WorkerConnect” – lists hundreds of jobs that are supposed to be in the Northern Territory, breaking them down into regions, sort of.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade awarded a 12-month $177,000 contract through a select tender to build the website to Brisbane-based software and service technology company Uworkin in January.

One of the stated aims in the tender for the site was to “deliver a Territory talent community and also enable our campaign conversion objectives”.

However, many jobs are in the wrong industry categories, or are listed as being in a Territory location but are actually located elsewhere.

The search mechanism also brings up jobs from the wrong regions in a “by region” search and many have the wrong employer, from a totally different industry, listed under the job before you click into the details of the job to find out what it really is.

As such, if you happen to work in Katherine South, population 1,495, and need a job, you could be very lucky.

The Sydney Swans in conjunction with the Illawarra Sports High School in Wollongong are looking for someone to help them work on fan engagement in this amazing little suburb, according to the website.

And not to be outdone, Montrose Bay High School in Tasmania, in conjunction with The Reject Shop, are looking for an advanced skills teacher in Katherine South.

While the Reject Shop, in conjunction with Rosny College in Tasmania, are also looking for a principal to be based in Katherine South.

And Sustainable Timber Tasmania are looking for an advanced skills teacher for Tasmania’s Kingston Primary School, also in Katherine South.

There is also a job listed for an assistant principal in Hobart City High School in Katherine South.

Or if you want a job in Katherine, but teaching or football fan engagement are not your thing, you could step up into the big bucks as a dewatering technician at $50 per year.

Just search under hospitality on the website and you could soon be working as a GP based in the NT community of Julanimawu, or as an infectious disease medical registrar trainee, an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist, a truck driver/store person for Laminex moving around laminate, engineered stone and panel products, or a Fantastic Furniture casual retail team member.
