NT Police are investigating the death of an infant allegedly found inside a parked vehicle in a Palmerston driveway on Friday afternoon.

Police said they received reports around 2:30pm that an unresponsive infant had been located inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Palmerston residence, but did not identify which suburb the home was in.

Officers attended the scene and attempted CPR before paramedics arrived.

“The infant was declared deceased a short time later,” a police statement released Friday evening said.

“The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number P26104870. Anonymous reports can also [be] made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
