‘Not a fix-all offer’: CLP offers $5k grants to support Territory tourism businesses following floods
Hurting NT tourism operators affected by floods will be able to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to repair or replace damaged business equipment and infrastructure, the Finocchiaro CLP Government has announced, in response to calls for urgent financial assistance and a tourism bailout package ahead of the predicted slow upcoming tourism season.
More confusion and instability in NT Police as another ‘acting’ deputy commissioner appointed
Police Commissioner Martin Dole has appointed a different temporary deputy commissioner amid ongoing turmoil in the top brass and while an AFP investigation into allegations against the NT’s most senior police officers continues, with Mr Dole’s previous unexplained and “very odd” pick as deputy now replaced with a senior officer who previously held the role, despite a recruitment process for a permanent deputy having been conducted late last year.
CLP strikes new NT Investment Committee to invest more public money into private companies
The Finocchiaro CLP Government has announced the Northern Territory’s latest ‘Investment Committee’ that will provide “independent advice on [government] investment opportunities” to help grow the stagnant economy, which appears to be the latest iteration of the previous Labor government’s Infrastructure Development Fund that was shut down amid scandal in 2019.
