‘Violent offenders’ on bail could have criminal cases adjourned indefinitely following Supreme Court decision
The ongoing legal aid funding stoush between the CLP Government and Legal Aid NT could now see “violent offenders” have their charges put on hold indefinitely, the Criminal Lawyers Association has said, following a recent decision by the NT Supreme Court that will permit NT Local Courts to grant lengthy adjournments on the grounds that defendants cannot obtain a lawyer.
Shots fired on Trower Road during major arrest of fugitive
A man who evaded NT Police for more than 24 hours was arrested in spectacular fashion on Trower Road this afternoon with police shooting at his car with a shotgun which then led to the man dousing himself in fuel and hiding in his vehicle before police smashed out the back window with fire extinguishers to arrest him.
Police still searching for man who escaped custody at Darwin Local Court
NT Police are searching for 44-year-old Brandt Graham, who reportedly escaped G4S security officers at Darwin Local Court Friday morning, with police warning the public not to approach him.
