Chief Minister rejects Territorians paying for gun buyback
The Finocchiaro Government does not support Territorians paying for a gun buyback scheme and has rejected any centrally imposed policy mandate about firearms ownership, but the Albanese Government is planning to introduce legislation under which states and territories can use a background and identity check system based on federal criminal agency intelligence before someone is issued with a gun licence.

Northern Territory Police conducted a land, sea and air search for a missing man named Angelo at East Point Reserve in Darwin yesterday after triangulation of his mobile phone identified the area as his last known location.
Toyota dominates NT new vehicle sales, plug-in hybrid electric sales jump
Toyota dominated the Northern Territory’s new car market last year, with the four top-selling models all from the Japanese manufacturer, according to Motor Trade Association data and while new vehicle sales increased by 1.3 per cent overall, sales of new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles increased by 140 per cent.
