Airnorth drops NT route fares to as low as $216, for travel from September to November

NT-based low-cost carrier Airnorth has put more than a dozen routes between the Top End, the West Coast, and the East Coast on sale, starting from just $216, one-way, until the end of this month.

Airnorth’s ‘unravel travel airfare sale’ allows travellers to better explore the NT from September to November, the airline said.

Travellers and visitors can get a one-way flight between Perth and Alice Springs for $300, Kununurra for just $218, from Darwin to Broome for $310, and Darwin to Cairns for $339.

One-way flights from Darwin to Timor Leste’s capital Dili are also on sale for $233.

The airline’s flights to Gove, Groote Eylandt, and Elcho Island are also on sale.

Travellers are advised to check Airnorth’s website for the full flight list and sale terms and conditions.

In March this year, the airline expanded its NT operations by opening its Alice Springs to Perth route under the NT Government’s Aviation Attraction Scheme.

The new route is the first direct service between Alice Springs and Perth since 2022.

Airnorth chief executive Daniel Bowden said at the time that the flights would increase the arrival of visitors to Central Australia off the back of international flights landing in Perth, including from London, Paris, and Rome.

The NT Government’s Aviation Attraction Scheme offers a pool of $10 million to local airports to help attract more flights into the NT. The scheme was established to increase competition and drive down airfare prices.

The scheme enables Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru airports to apply for a share of the funding pool, which they need to match dollar-for-dollar, bringing a total of $20 million on offer to competing airlines.

Airnorth is based at Darwin International Airport, offering scheduled and charter services in the NT, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, and East Timor.

Capiteq Pty Ltd, trading as Airnorth was established in 1978 through the merger of Airnorth, Rossair, and Tillair. It commenced operations in July 1978 as Air North International.

Airnorth is Australia’s second-longest-operating airline.
