Police assaulted during Wadeye fighting
A police officer was allegedly bitten, another allegedly struck with a star picket, and officers forced to retreat after a crowd allegedly threw rocks, window louvres and metal bars during unrest in Wadeye on Friday evening, with NT Police saying alcohol contributed to the violence.
Five arrested, knives seized at Katherine Show during police blitz
Five people were arrested at the Katherine Show over the weekend and another two detained under paperless arrest powers, NT Police said, with seven knives and 12 other prohibited weapons seized during wanding operations at the show as part of a massive police blitz.
Cop fires two shots at alleged car thief on Saturday morning in Palmerston
A police officer opened fire on a car driven by an alleged thief in Palmerston Saturday morning, in what the NT Police said was an attempt to stop the vehicle. There were no injuries reported and the alleged driver was later arrested while an internal investigation into the use of force has been launched.
